Fun in the Sun- MEDC2005

The fun of MEDC 2005 has well and truly started. The anticipation began yesterday with Sean Liming’s pre-conference tutorial where he gave an overview of XP Embedded tools and features- more detailed information is available in Nandini’s blog post yesterday. Sean is a really accomplished speaker who knows his stuff and has created a number of useful tools to assist Embedded developers (check out his toolkit available from his website).

Today the keynote address really sparked my enthusiasm. I always love the demos, from all the speakers. Today was the big release announcement for Windows Mobile 5.0, and there were some great demo’s on writing applications for your phone or mobile device, using Visual Studio 2005 and .NET Framework 2.0. After these demos it always makes me want to rush out and buy the latest product or device just so that I can be using all this cool technology ASAP. I also get the biggest kick out of seeing Mike Hall pull the plug on his device on stage in the middle of the demo while demonstrating Hibernate Once Resume Many- it always gets the applause!
