[Funktionen som är associerad med den här sidan, Windows Media Format 11 SDK, är en äldre funktion. Det har ersatts av Source Reader och Sink Writer. Funktionen FindAudioFormat accepterar en pekare till en WAVEFORMATEX- struktur som innehåller antalet kanaler, bitar per exempel och den exempelfrekvens som du vill använda. Funktionen hittar det format som matchar dessa krav och har den högsta bithastigheten som inte överskrider parametern dwMaxRate. Om du anger fAVSync- till TRUEvaliderar funktionen endast format som kan synkroniseras med video. För enkelhetens skull fungerar den här funktionen bara med 1-pass CBR-format.
