Today is Amy's birthday!

Who the heck is Amy? Amy (a.k.a. “Princess Amy) is our Release Program Manager. Her job is to make sure that we ship when we say we're going to ship. It's a pretty tough job! Imagine wrangling dev, test, PM, design, usability, and user education all down the same path to a date “somewhere down the road”. She does things like driving everyone against milestone schedules, tracking exit criteria, running our weekly status meeting, whipping people about bug goals, and scheduling security work. All of this has to take place while keeping us on our ship date, which is quite an incredible feat!

So why on earth am I blogging about Amy's birthday? Well, for the last two months every time we've seen a schedule for the project May 4th has been higlighted in pink. “See that square? That's my birthday!”. So today Princess Amy is 31 again. Wish her a happy birthday by commenting on this post, and we'll pass it along!

It sounds like there's not enough time to enjoy the birthday, although I'm sure there'll be some fun. I'm just not sure about the dubious choice of color for the project schedules... Pink?! Oh well, there's no accounting for taste :)

    Happy birthday, Amy!

Happy Birthday, Amy! I hope you don't have to clean up all of that confetti! Or is that part of the "fun"? :)

Thanks so much for the wonderful birthday surprise and all the nice messages. And a special thanks to whomever cleaned my office! This was my best 31st birthday so far!
