We don’t have any official word on it but (and probably won’t) I like CNET’s coverage well enough.

 

[zain's update 1/5/2010:  As far as I know no one has (or is) calling this a hack.  I know about Ed's article https://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=2724 and think his analysis is pretty much the same as everyone else's:  it's a cool little trick that we have had since the days of Windows 95 to get some neat new functionality by doing a name/CLSID for a folder.  That's it.  I haven't read a single article that says it will make you omnipotent or cure diseases or cause the Earth to stop rotating.  Just saying.]

    I'm curious as to if this creature bypasses security controls or not for normal users. (...and if malware could take advantage of it).
