How to Create a Sales Process

A great example of a sales process can be found in the Workflow Manager Help. The example uses a sales template, which is one of the ways to create a sales process. You can also create a sales process without a template. To look at the example in Help, follow the steps below:

Remember that Workflow Manager is a separate application that is set up on the Microsoft CRM Server.

  1. To open Workflow Manager, On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft CRM, and click Workflow Manager.
  2. In the Workflow Manager Log On dialog box, enter the name of the Microsoft CRM server in the Target Microsoft CRM server box, and then click OK.
  3. In Workflow Manager, click the Help menu, and then select Contents.
  4. In the Help window, on the Contents tab, expand Workflow Manager if necessary, and then expand Sales Processes.
  5. Under Sales Processes, expand Sales Process Templates, and select A Sales Process Example that Uses Solutions Selling.

Following this example will give you a few ideas. I trust it will interest you to find out what sales processes are about.

    Jim,

I've been testing the Salesprocesses and I have several questions:

    1) is it possible to have a Stage with no action? My customers want to limit the number of created activities. I've tried it but then the Stage is skipped.

    2) When a Stage is rolled back manualy the workflow stops, as discribed in the manual. But the opportunity also disappears from the standard pipeline report. This is very strange. What am I doing wrong ?

    3) in the attributes of Oppt there is a field "stepname" that displays the salesstage of the workflow. AND there is a picklist "salesstagecode" where you can add sales stages. What is the logic of this ?

    4) when using the "salesstagecode" do you have an example report to show the pipeline based on this field?

    Greetings
