Dogfooding at Microsoft

After almost 15 years at Microsoft, I'm used to using the new products while they are in beta form. But there is a learning curve and a time hit associated with moving to the next great operating system or application. This Summer I've moved to Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and Office 2007.

Moving to a new app during development can be fraught with time sinks, downtime, and frustration. This morning I called Helpdesk to get an employee product number for Office 2007 and the guy left me on hold for 25 minutes. But then someone had come in to work, I usually get there around 6:30 AM so I have to wait for people to get in. So I hung up on the tech and got the answer immediately.

The nicest app I've used so far is Outlook. Ooh, I just love it. There is more on the page but in a very intuitive and useful way. And I'm using IE 7 on my primary machine because I just have to have the new tab feature. This should be a very interesting 2007 with these three products coming your way and in a majorly improved form.

Enjoy.
