Microsoft Surface Computing!
Microsoft Surface Computing has been unveiled at the D Conference and I have to say Wow! I saw this technology demonstrated at a technical conference in Seattle this past February by the Microsoft Research team but I didn't think it was going to be happening so soon. Microsoft Surface is designed to break down the barriers between people and technology and is initially going to be available in hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. Below is a screen-shot of what one looks like. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was Las Vegas. My niece works at the Revolution Lounge at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas and they have similar tables that just display funky and cool designs. But what a great opportunity for clubs to enhance the experience by having a Microsoft Surface device there!
The local press in Australia has been picking up the news about this as well. The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian IT, and ZDNet Australia all have articles about it. Also check out this post on the D Conference blog which includes a video of Bill Gates doing a demo of Microsoft Surface.
And for another demo check head over to www.on10.net for a great demo on Microsoft Surface. It really goes into some detail. The really cool thing is runs Windows Vista underneath. Awesome!
Cheers, Jeffa
