Australian Daylight Savings Update

The Council for the Australian Federation (CAF) held its third meeting on 12 April 2007 in Canberra, ahead of the meeting of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) on 13 April 2007.

In the meeting Communiqué, the following appears under the heading “Daylight Saving”:

“Victoria, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory agreed to start daylight saving on the first Sunday in October and conclude it on the first Sunday in April. New South Wales agreed to consider aligning with these dates.”

At this time, this recommendation still needs to be confirmed by each State Government. The Australia Government Time web site (https://www.australia.gov.au/335) has links to the Daylight Saving site for each state. As yet, none of these sites reflects the proposed changes.

Once the proposal has been confirmed by all states, Microsoft will commence work on product updates to reflect the new DST transition times. Our aim is to make these updates available by early July, which would give organisations 90 days in which to apply them. However, this is dependent on all four states officially accepting the proposed changes to daylight saving before then.
