New Slideshows in Vista

The slideshows have been spruced up in Vista with different styles and types to enjoy your favourite snaps.  Furthermore, you can also view videos and photos in the same slideshow - something that wasn't possible in Windows XP.

To run the slideshows you need to have a hardware rating of 3.0.  To check your hardware rating, get into Control Panel and then search for "Performance" - you'll find the way from there.  You can see how your computer's performance breaks down by each major component; CPU, RAM, Hard disk etc.  The lowest score on these components determines your overall score.

For those power users who don't have the neccessary hardware rating (sub 3.0 score) you can adjust the registry manually to allow you to run the slideshows although you won't get the best experience - that's why we have the hardware index! :-)

Here is the info you need to set the regkey:
Key path is HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\SlideShow.
Type = DWORD Value
Name = WinSATScore
Value = 300
