Windows Vista: Where's the Buzz?
Guess he (John C. Dvorak) doesn't get it. Vista is not about buzz; not yet. This is beta 1 (One) and we expect some real buzz with beta 2 and of course the final product.
Few no buzz comments from my end:
John: "I'm not saying that Microsoft is doomed as a company, but its reign as the OS dominator may end fast if things go the way I see them headed. The new OS is getting zero buzz. Zero. There has been nothing like this since Windows Me."
Volker: I knew it, we're not doomed. "...but its reign ... may end..." so what's the point here? What are you seeing that we don't? Or are you trying to create buzz here?
John: "And now the name Vista, along with the new Microsoft Vista logo, has made it worse. Could anything be less exciting?"
Volker: What's wrong with it. Vista will break with enough traditions, let's keep the Windows flag. People will be excited about the product, who cares about the logo. I remember well similar complaints about names like "Windows Me" or "Windows 98".
A final remark about Apple. They are a great company that has great products. We are glad to have competitors like Apple. Like in the past, they will incite us to creating even better products and add even more value for our customers. Their move to the Intel platform is smart. But it will keep us even more alert and ship even better products. You are better prepared for some real buzz.
Hasta luego, John.

Pay no attention to Dvorak. His articles are usually just inflammatory journalistic "trolling" to increase readership numbers. The more people complain (and link) to him, the more he succeeds.
He does have a few good points every now and then, though. (Vista? yuck).
