For my money, one of the best ASP.NET books around is Essential ASP.NET with Examples in C# by Fritz Onion. Also, the best Windows Forms for .NET book I've found is Windows Forms programming with C# by Erik Brown - completely brilliant, project driven book - fastest way I've found to learn .NET Winforms. I didn't really rate Jesse Liberty's Programming ASP.NET book...pretty poor really...

John Robbins' "Debugging Applications for Microsoft .NET and Microsoft Windows".OK, there's a very large amount of material on debugging native code, but there's a large amount of .NET material too.

It's funny - I've read Inside C# and it really wasn't my cup of tea. One moment it's covering basic concepts (what is inheritance), the next it's deep into IL. It just feels wrong that the book is dissecting executables with dumpbin on page 23, yet feels the need to explain in basic terms what an if statement is on page 286. There's some great material in it, but it's buried. Haven't come across the Essential ASP.NET book before - I'll get hold of a copy and have a look at it. What's so bad about the Liberty ASP.NET book, do you think?

I'd make 2 comments.1. In case it's not clear, get Version 3 of Dave Platt's "Introducing .NET". And go to his site www.rollthunder.com - he has all the code plus 2 extra chapters that MS Press had to drop in the printed version (PDF plus code!).2. I'd add a key book: ".NET Framework Security", by LaMancchia, Lange, Lyons, Martin, and Price. Those names should be familiar - the first three work at MS on the .NET team!Thomas
