2 Cool Show Off Apps from MIX

One of the fun events at MIX this year was Show Off, which was basically a contest in which the live audience got to take a look at user-submitted videos of cool applications written using various new technologies, like WPF, Silverlight, and XAML, but more importantly, were very cool apps. My two favorites were:

  • Jeff McNeal's WPF Clock/Photo app for UMPC - Jeff's app, which you can see in the video here, essentially turns your UMPC into a digital photo frame, with alarm clock and weather functionality tossed in for good measure. It's clean looking, functional, and I'm definitely looking forward to playing with it when he uploads the code here: https://mcnejef.wordpress.com/
  • Crayon Physics is a physics-driven puzzle game in which you draw shapes in
order to move an object from its starting point to a goal. This was easily one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time, and I'm looking forward to testing it out on my UMPC, or one of my tablet PCs. Check out the video, and you'll see how neat this is
