User Group Heroes

Just wanted to post a reminder for the user group leaders that have a Heroes Kit that they need to register their TechNet subscription winners. To do this.. Login to the Hero's site https://www.heroescommunitylaunch.com/default.aspx using the Passport login that you used when you registered for you kit.

After you login, look on the right pane, you will see the following box...

Click on the "Add Subscribers" button to add subscribers. Per the Heroes agreement, you have two Technet Plus Direct Subscriptions to give out and one to use for yourself. If you have not done this yet, you need to do it quickly. If you do not do it by June 30th, 2008, the opportunity will be lost. (The original deadline was extended)

Activation can take 4 - 6 weeks

More detailed instructions located at... https://www.heroescommunitylaunch.com/technetplusdirecthelp.htm

While you are at it... Please offer feedback... Scroll down the Heros page and look for the FEEDBACK WANTED section and follow the link.

Hi John, thanks for your comment... I understand your concern. There is nothing we can do about the people that take advantage of the system (take the software and put it on a shelf for three years and eventually throw it away. As with all things in life we have to take the good with the bad. There are actually many reasons to give out software instead of just discounts.
  1. It is more of a draw to events
  2. People (not all but some or most) are more inclined to use it
  3. Once they use it, we hope they will like it enough to continue using it perhaps on more systems, deploy to the enterprise, upgrade to future versions, and even tell friends about how great it is
  4. It gives Microsoft more people in the field to help with feedback.  The people that go to these events are usually among the more vocal of consumers and getting their feedback helps us make the products better.
  5. Some people cannot afford to get the latest and greatest software so this gives them an opportunity to keep up.  ( I have some good friends in this category) In today's economy with people being unemployed and underemployed there are thousands of people in the technology field that but for the user groups / TechNet events/ TS2 events/ MSDN events/ software donations, etc, etc, etc...  would become stale and not be able to keep up with technology. Believe me, there are thousands of these out there.   There are many, many more reasons to give ... Perhaps I will blog on that another time.

Greetings, If you do not see the button on the right side of the screen it is most likely because you are logged into a .NET profile using an account that was not registered as Hero's package or you did not get a kit.  Did you click on the "Login/Register" button in the upper right corner, then "Sign in" button... then put in your credentials for the .NET profile?  Are you sure you are using the same profile that you used to sign up for your kit in the first place? Did you get your kit? You have to be signed in to see the Add Subscribers button.  Please let me know how you make out.  If all else fails, there is a "Contact Us" button in the upper right corner (next to the login button) for you to contact the Hero's site for additional support.

I think I didn't receive the launch kit from Heroes Community Launch website but I received it from Microsoft (Thailand) (I'm a Student Partners), so 'Add Subscription' button didn't show. (I read from http://www.heroescommunitylaunch.com/technetplusdirecthelp.htm)

I have found that there is too much greed by attendees to events to get this prize. Give out software insteed of subscriptions. Give then discount coupons. The real users will subscribe. I had a couple of customers buy Sub's so that they did not have to pay for the real cost of software. We dropped them.
