Too...Much...Information - Part 1

It's the first day of July, and here in Redmond summer is in full swing: gray, dreary, damp, and cold.

57 degrees F

Feels like 57 degrees F

Winds from the SE at 3 mph

Humidity 69%

Dewpoint 47 degrees F

...

We could go on, but you're probably already thinking "Why are they giving me the detailed weather report? Come on guys, I think gray and dreary pretty much covered it, let's move on." Actually, we're pretty sure we had your attention up until we reached Dewpoint, maybe that was going a little too far. But you're right: we provided more information than you really cared about. And, yes, every once in a while Microsoft Lync Server 201 PowerShell gets a little carried away and does the same thing.

But not to worry. You'll never believe how easy it is to filter the data you get back when you retrieve information from Lync Server using PowerShell. You can narrow results down to exactly what you need. The article Dealing with Information Overload shows you how to do this.

And in case that isn't quite enough information, Part 2 (coming soon to an RSS reader near you, assuming you've subscribed to this blog) will show you an even better way, or at least a different way, to filter information.
