In for the Shock of His Life

My husband and I awoke early Saturday morning hearing a painful yelp with a huge thud from under the bed.  We shot up and saw our sheltie plastered to the bedroom door.  My honest to g-d first thought was, “OMG, there are really monsters under the bed, and they got Graham!”  You gotta love those first few seconds of waking up.

Our dog likes to sleep under the bed.  And for no apparent reason this morning, he decided to try to chew new and exciting things, namely an electrical cord to our floor lamp.  Unfortunately, dogs are very discriminating, meaning that he’s learned his lesson not to chew that cord, but any other cord is fair game.  Once again, all the in-reach electrical cords are covered with aluminum foil.  At least we’re ready for when we get graham his puppy-sister.

And yes, graham is fine.  He just got the shock of his life.

Glad to hear you're dog is alright. It's always scary when the family pet starts chewing on things like that.

Another trick is to spray the cords with soapy water -- usually dogs won't chew on it because it tastes bad. You can do the same with plants if he likes chewing on those. :-)

Most pet stores also sell a product called Bitter Apple that is incredibly bitter (thus its name;)) and keeps animals from chewing.

Oh yes, Bitter Apple is our friend, well, obviously not Graham's. =) It's apparently safe for plants too, at least we haven't had any plants die because of it.
