Windows Vista Deployment

Hi folks,

Well the Ready Summit has finished now and I thought it would be good to post some essential resources regarding Windows Vista Deployment. I found this awhile back and its the best all up resource for all there is to know regarding deployment.

Vista Imaging...

Windows Vista OS setup is built on an entirely new set of technologies than previous versions of Windows, and as a result the process of creating OS images and creating and using unattended files is different than you might be used to from the past.

If you are planning to create and deploy OS images for Windows Vista, I encourage you to take a look at the Windows Vista deployment step-by-step guide at for some helpful information.

The following sections are included in the deployment guide:

In addition, it is worth reviewing the content of:-

· TheWindows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK))

· Ask the experts: ImageX and WIM Image Format, which is located here.

· Webcast: TechNet Webcast: Building a Windows Vista Image for Your Corporate Deployment (Level 200)

· Webcast: TechNet Webcast: Imaging Windows Vista (Level 200)

· Webcast: TechNet Webcast: Windows Vista Deployment Tools and Technologies (Level 200)

· Webcast: TechNet Webcast: Deploying Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office System Using BDD 2007 (Level 300)

The above content will help you go through the process end to end build a robust deployment environment. I've gone through this a few times my self in various forms and I'm actually doing it again now that Vista RTM is available. I'll post the details of what I get setup in a later post.

Cheers, Jeffa
