One of my colleagues just started an internal email thread on one of the aliases about a sub $100 PC idea from Nicolas Negroponte.
“Nicholas Negroponte, chairman and founder of MIT's Media Labs, says he is developing a laptop PC that will go on sale for less than $100 (£53)….He described the device as a stripped down laptop, which would run a Linux-based operating system.” https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4243733.stm

On Monday I got a dual proc Opteron system delivered to my office. This now makes a total of 10 64-bit systems in a 12x12 feet cell, pardon, office. Think about all the power that these systems consume … (if I would turn them on all at the same time).
