HPC at PDC
Can’t promise anything. But. The CCE team submitted 3 sessions for PDC. As always, submitting does not mean you get the slots. There are so many cool things going on and so much stuff to cover at PDC, you can be lucky if you get 1 or perhaps 2 sessions.
Oh, and we’re planning for a HPC hands-on lab. That will be fun! Don’t you think?
Well, in case we miss the opportunity at PDC, there is SC2005, this year in Seattle, with plenty of options to play with HPC stuff from Microsoft.
I update this blog since I forgot to post the HPC sessions we submitted for PDC:
1. High Performance Computing with Microsoft’s Compute Cluster Solution
2. Developing and debugging MPI applications with Microsoft’s Compute Cluster Solution
3. Parallelizing Legacy Applications to Utilize High Performance Computing Clusters

We intended to try and setup a workstation PC in our business, a Computer Renaissance in Fairview Heights, IL. We anticipated some issues of incompatibility and here are the 3 biggest so far.
1. We use Norton SAV 9.0 Small Business Edition and cannot run it on the Win64 system. CLosest version is 10.0 which is enterprise version. Can't rationally switch our entire business over to that now can we. Is there another more compatible AV out there we could use temporarily on one system on the Net?
2. ISA Firewall Client will not run in Win64bit. We cannot find a fix for this.
3. We run Pervasive Sequel on our Point of Sale (proprietary) application for the franchise and there appears not to be a suitable ODBC link that will enable it to run. Anyone know of a work around? While I am asking, can Microsoft RMS (retail management system) run in Win64?
