How Starbucks won me back

Simple – I clearly value good Wi-Fi over good coffee. Well, sometimes.

I signed up to the Free Wi-Fi scheme with Starbucks last week when I had a few hours in the City and needed wifi. I could have gone to Caffe Nero who serve up the best high street coffee in my opinion but their Wi-Fi rates are ridiculous. Though I much prefer their coffee to Starbucks’ the Wi-Fi won out on this occasion. All I needed to do to get free BT Openzone broadband with Starbucks was buy a loyalty card and I’m now up and running. I’ve used it at least 3 times since and given Starbucks £10 more of my money this month than they would normally get. I also had to give up my email address and home address which I was less happy about but clearly I’m a Wi-Fi sucker.

Great coffee shops like Flat White and even Nero will still get my custom now and then, but whilst this Starbucks scheme continues, they’ll have me coming back through their doors much more regularly.
