Vista RC-2 availability

We have put RC-2 on the Vista download site. It has not yet appeared on the MSDN and Technet member sites, although we have said it will do, so expect it to appear there in the next day or two.

Downloading has been a pain. First two attempts had a fatal error. Third attempt downloaded perfectly, but was put into a virtual temp folder and virtually disappeared. On my 4th attempt now. Turned off protected mode and if it succeeds, .....

CW, how have been able to remove IIS 7 completely from RC1? From what I know this Windows feature can only be disabled under Vista.

I just did a clean install, twice, from 2 seperate burns of the iso to rule out corrupt DVD. There seems to be a issue with Build 5744. When the install was taking place, and it came to restart, it failed, I had to everytime press the reset button on the PC. Also with build 5744 installed there is a restart and shutdown issue. The OS shows it is logging off, shutting down or restarting, then at the point of restart ,the screen just goes blank-and turned off, have to do a hard reset again. I was running build 5600 and 5728 with no problems. Did a clean fresh install of build 5744 twice now, with no luck. Shut down and restart issues remain.

ps: Your problem might not be IIS, but checking the logs might help. Comparing the logs was made much easier by using Robocopy and Windiff robocopy c: d:logs.before *.log /s /w:1 /r:1 <do upgrade> robocopy c: d:logs.after *.log /s /w:1 /r:1 windiff d:logs.before d:logs.after (Ignore any errors about open logs - registry hives and such can't be copied.)
