Prompts are a way to call a large-language model (LLM), so that you can instruct the LLM to return useful content. You can describe how the LLM should act, what it should and shouldn’t do, and how it should format the response. Prompt actions created in Copilot Studio enable you to define prompts that Microsoft 365 Copilot can use to generate a response to a user's request.

Suppose you work as a customer support agent responding to email complaints. You have an idea for a prompt that could help you summarize and document user inquiries and complaints to increase efficiency. You create and test a prompt action in Copilot Studio that processes a user email and extracts the key metadata your team needs to handle complaints and requests. This helps your team prioritize issues and work efficiently.

In this module, you learn how to design, create, test, and publish prompt actions in Copilot Studio so that you can extend the capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot.
