3D Viewer Window [Kinect Studio]

The 3D Viewer window shows recorded or live color and depth data from a Kinect.

The camera frustum is a clipped 3D pyramidal shaped volume that shows the physical space visible to the Kinect. The point of the pyramid represents the position of the sensor array. The clipped top of the pyramid represents the front clipping plane and the gray base of the pyramid represents the maximum distance of the depth sensor. There are two pyramids; the red one corresponds to default mode and the green one corresponds to near mode.
The cube in the top-right corner of the viewer shows the current direction of the coordinate axes in relation to the viewing angle, where positive X is to the left, positive Y is up, and positive Z is away from the sensor array. The cube will rotate as you rotate the view around the center point.

Selecting a Preset Viewing Angle
The default view places the position of the sensor array in the lower-right corner of the viewer.
To set the viewing angle to the front view
- Click Front View.
To set the viewing angle to the left side view
- Click Left Side View.
To set the viewing angle to the top view
- Click Top View.
To reset the viewing angle to the default view
- Click Reset View.
Customizing the Viewing Angle
In addition to using the preset views, you can also move the viewing angle.
To move the viewing angle in or out, do one of the following:
- Click Camera In
or Camera Out.
- Hold down ALT and the right mouse button, and then drag forward or backward within the viewer.
- Rotate the mouse wheel forward or backward.
To pan the viewing angle, do one of the following:
- Select Pan,
and then drag within the viewer.
- Hold down ALT and the middle mouse button, and then drag within the viewer.
To rotate the viewing angle, do one of the following:
- Select Rotate,
and then drag within the viewer.
- Hold down ALT and the left mouse button, and then drag within the viewer.
To toggle display of the camera frustum
- Click Toggle Camera Frustum.
