Type: Automated Test
Overview
The USB System Suspend Resume test verifies that a USB device continues to appear in the device manager after the system awakens from the S3 sleep state.
Details
This test is designed to remove a hot fix that prompts the USB Host Controller to reset upon resume (for more information on this fix, please read A USB device may no longer work correctly after Windows Vista resumes from sleep or from hibernation). The test sends the system into S3 and then resumes the system, upon resume the device under test is sought in the device manager, thus verifying that it is both present and functional. The suspend and resume cycle repeats 20 times, and if the device under test is found upon resume each time the test passes. If the device under test is no longer found in device manager the test will fail. Following the test the hot fix is put back into the registry only for the Host Controller keys from which it was removed.
