USB Hub Testing Overview
Note This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.
To see the complete list of tests that could be required for your device, see the USB Hub Tests.
Run time: approximately 4 hours
Note You must use the latest version of the WDK to compile your driver in order for it to pass testing and obtain a logo.
Hardware requirements
The following hardware is required for USB Hub testing.
One USB Hub under test (two test devices are required for USB serial number support)
One external USB 2.0 high-speed hub, self-powered
One external USB 1.1 full-speed hub, self-powered
One Cypress Full-Speed USB 2.0 Compliance test board
One Cypress Low-Speed USB 2.0 Compliance test board
The low-speed and full-speed Cypress functional compliance test boards can be purchased directly from the USB Implementer's forum:
Note To reduce the chance of failures caused by unrelated hardware problems, Microsoft recommends that all tests be performed on a client test system which is part of the "Windows Catalog" at Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.
Software requirements
There are no additional software requirements.
Tester knowledge requirements
The tester must be able to answer basic technical questions about the test device, such as whether the USB Hub supports multiple transaction translators.
