Running Wireless LAN (802.11) Tests for Logo Submission

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

The following logo submission procedure demonstrates how to run the WLAN device tests:

  1. Open DTM Studio.

  2. On the Explorers menu, click Device Console. (You can also switch to the Device Console window by clicking the Device Console tab in the lower left corner of DTM Studio.)

  3. In the View By area, select Submission, and then in the Submission list, click <New Submission>. You will see the Create New Submission dialog box.

  4. Select the operating system and architecture that your test device is running on, and then click Next.

  5. Click Device Submission, and then click Next.

  6. Click Network > Wireless LAN (802.11), and then click Next.

  7. Select the desired Qualification Level, and then click Next.

  8. In the Name for new submission box, enter an appropriate name for this test submission, and then, in the Machine Pool area, select the machine pool to use to run the test jobs.

  9. In the Driver Install File (INF) box, locate the INF file that is associated with the driver you are testing, click Load, and then click Next.

  10. Review the summary of the settings you have chosen, and then click Next. A summary of your submission will be displayed. Click the Finish button to close the wizard. The Device Console window will re-appear

  11. In the Available Jobs area, select the check box next to Wireless LAN - 802.11, and then click Add Selected button in the lower left hand corner. The Job extension dialog box will appear.

  12. In the Job extension dialog box, select the appropriate support devices, AP devices, and remote message devices for each client machine, and then click Save.

  13. In the Device Console window, click the Schedule Jobs button in the lower right corner of the screen. The tests will begin to execute.

When you first run DTM tests on a WLAN device driver, any client machine that has a SoftAP device will ask if you want to install an unsigned driver. You must click Install before test execution can continue.

During test execution and after test execution completes, you can view status and progress through the Job Monitor window. To open this window, on the Explorers menu, click Job Monitor. Job Monitor is the same window that you used to define a new machine pool.

When the client machines complete test jobs, you can gather information from the Job Execution Status frame by right-clicking on a job and viewing errors, job reports, or result reports. You can also click Browse Job Logs to access NDISTest results.
