Running the DVD Playback Tests
Note This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.
To run the DVD Playback logo tests and create a submission cabinet file (.cab) to send to the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) for logo approval, do the following:
To run logo tests from a previously saved Device Job Schedule file
Open DTM Studio.
On the Explorers menu, click Device Console. (You can also switch to the Device Console window by clicking the Device Console tab in the lower left corner of DTM Studio.)
From the list at the upper left corner of the Device Console window, select your DTM controller.
At the bottom of the Device Console window, click the Load button.
Select a Device Job Schedule file that you previously saved.
Skip to the steps in the "To select and schedule logo tests" procedure.
To use the Create New Submission wizard to select and run logo tests
Open DTM Studio.
On the Explorers menu, click Device Console. (You can also switch to the Device Console window by clicking the Device Console tab in the lower left corner of DTM Studio.)
In the list in the upper left corner of the Device Console window, select your DTM controller.
In the View By frame, select the Submission option.
In the Submission list on the right side of the Device Console window, click <New Submission>, and follow the instructions in the Create New Submission wizard that appears.
Do the following to choose the logo tests to run:
Select the operating system and processor architecture to test, and then click Next.
Select a submission category, and then click Next.
Click Device Submission, select the Streaming Media and Broadcase > DVD Decoder logo program, and then click Next.
Select a Qualification Level, and then click Next.
Enter a name for the submission, select the machine pool that contains the machines to use for the submission, and then click Next.
Select the I am not providing an INF or Driver Package check box, and then click Finish.
Optional. Click the Save button to create a Device Job Schedule file that you can load in the future to avoid running the Create New Submission wizard again for the same type of submission that you selected.
To select and schedule logo tests
In the list at the bottom of the Device Console window, select the displayed logo tests.
Click the Add Selected button.
Click the Schedule button.
To monitor logo test progress
Observe logo test progress by using job monitor and manually intervene if the test requires it. You can manually refresh the logo tests status in the Device Console window by pressing F5 or by clicking Refresh on the View menu.
Examine the results of a job in Result Explorer and diagnose the source of any errors. Rerun logo tests if necessary until they pass successfully.
After the logo tests have all passed successfully, you can submit the logo test results to WHQL for approval.
