Running the Audio Device Tests

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

To run the logo tests and create a submission cabinet file to send to WHQL for logo approval, either run the logo tests from a previously saved device job schedule file, or create a new submission. These procedures are as follows:

Run the Logo Tests from a Previously Saved Device Job Schedule File

  1. Open a Device Console window from the Explorers menu.

  2. Select your DTM controller from the drop-down box at the upper-left of the Device Console window.

  3. Click the Load button at the bottom of the Device Console window.

  4. Select a Device Job Schedule file that you have previously saved.

  5. Skip ahead to the To Select and Schedule Logo Tests procedure.

Use the Create New Submission Wizard to Select and Run Logo Tests

  1. Open a Device Console window from the Explorers menu.

  2. Select your DTM controller from the drop-down box at the upper left of the Device Console window.

  3. Click the Submission option button in the View By section.

  4. Select <New Submission> from the Submission drop-down box near the right-side of the Device Console window, and follow the instructions in the Create New Submission wizard that appears.

  5. Choose the logo tests to run:

    1. Select the operating system and processor architecture to test, and then click Next.
    2. Select a submission category, and then click Next.
    3. Select a Device Submission, then select the logo program "Audio -> System Effect Audio Processing Objects", and then click Next.
    4. Select a Qualification Level, and then click Next.
    5. Enter a name for the submission, and select the machine pool that contains the systems to use for the submission, and then click Next.
    6. If the device has its own drivers, select the location in the Driver Install File control and then click Finish.
  6. Optional. Click the Save button to create a Device Job Schedule file that you can load in the future to avoid running the Create Submission Wizard again for the same type of submission that you selected.

  7. Select and schedule logo tests:

    1. Select the displayed logo tests from the filtered list at the bottom of the Device Console window.
    2. Click the Add Selected button.
    3. Click the Schedule button.
  8. Monitor logo test progress:

    1. Observe logo test progress by using Job Monitor, and manually intervene if required by test.
    2. Examine the results of a job in the Result Explorer and diagnose the source of any errors. Rerun logo tests if necessary until they pass successfully.

After the logo tests have all passed successfully, you can submit the logo test results to WHQL for approval.
