Resolving Errors, Updating DTM with QFE Patches

The DTM is updated periodically. These updates might include changes to the DTM test harness itself or to the testing content and the jobs available for a particular device category.

When these updates, or Quick Fix Engineering (QFE) patches, are ready for distribution, you can download them from the Windows Logo Kit: QFE Updates Web site. This Web site provides a brief explanation about the issue addressed by each QFE patch, along with instructions for how to download and install the patch.

In certain cases, one QFE depends on another for proper operation. In such cases, the QFE patches must be installed in a specific order. The instructions in the accompanying readme file explain the order of installation.

To avoid performance and maintenance issues, make sure to do the following:

  • Install all required infrastructure QFE patches. These are updates for the DTM test harness.

  • Install only the logo test-related QFE patches that you currently need to run your jobs.

  • After you have completed a logo submission that is dependent upon a logo test-related QFE patch, leave the QFE patch installed on your computer.

If you do not find a QFE patch that applies to your test scenario, or you downloaded and installed a QFE patch and you now have problems, contact Microsoft to request help.
