Preparing for Wireless LAN (802.11) Testing
Note This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.
To prepare the test systems for WLAN device testing, do the following:
Set up the following machine configuration:
- One test device on the DUT.
- One test device on the SUT.
- Two Atheros chipset devices on the Test SoftAP.
Install the DTM client software on all computers. For more information about the installation, please see Setting Up DTM.
Note The WTT client must be installed before the Test SoftAP driver.
Open DTM Studio.
Under My Explorers, click My Machines. The screen that opens enables you to organize client computers into groups called machine pools. At first, only two elements will show up in the list in the Machine Pool tab: "Default Pool" and "System". "Default Pool" initially contains all of the client machines that it can recognize, including the client machines that you just configured.
Right-click the root machine pool ($), and then click Add Machine Pool. A configuration window appears to enable you to define parts of a new machine pool such as the name and scheduling rules.
In the Name field, enter a name for the new machine pool. Click OK to create the pool.
In the Job Monitor, there is a section that shows any clients with the DTM client installed under the heading Machines. Test clients in the default pool should be moved into the machine pool that was created. Select any test clients which will be used for WLAN Logo testing. Right-click the selected test clients from the default pool. Select the option Move...
The Move Machines dialog box will open. Select the machine pool you created and click the OK button. The test clients will be moved to the new pool.
Right-click the test clients again. Select Change status and then select Reset. This will apply the WLAN Logo configuration settings on the clients and the machines will be ready for a Logo submission.
Install SoftAP driver for both of the Atheros WLAN devices on the Test SoftAP. You can install this driver from Device Manager (which you can open by running devmgmt.msc from a command prompt). Please, do the following
- In Device Manager, install the driver for SoftAP stations from \\<ControllerMachine>\Tests\<architecture>\nttest\nettest\ndis\NDISTest.net\SoftAPMiniport\. <ControllerMachine> is the name of the DTM controller computer and <architecture> is either x86 (for x86-based processors), amd64 (for x64-based processors), depending on the processor architecture of the DTM client machine that have the SoftAP devices.
To troubleshoot the NDISTest, attach a debugger to the test machine.
