Preparing for USB Gaming Device Testing

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

Before running the USB gaming device tests on test systems, you must install and configure the system hardware, choose the target Microsoft Windows operating system, and install and configure the Device Test Manager (DTM). This section summarizes the procedures and requirements for the USB gaming device. For information about installing and configuring the DTM, see Setting Up DTM.

Test System Configuration

To prepare the test systems for testing the USB gaming device for your target operating system:

  1. Attach a USB 2.0 hub to your test system.

  2. Attach a USB gaming device to the USB 2.0 hub, with the headset attached to the USB gaming device.

  3. Open Joy.cpl and ensure that the USB Gaming Device shows up in Joy.cpl.

  4. If you have not done so already, install the DTM controller and the DTM Studio.

  5. On each test system, install the DTM client. For information, see Driver Test Manager.
