Preparing for Lightweight Filter Driver Testing
Note This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.
After you install the DTM Controller, DTM clients, and DTM Studio, you can monitor the status of the DTM client machines through DTM Studio. The DTM clients are grouped into logical machine pools that the DTM Controller machine monitors. New DTM client machines are automatically put into the default pool.
You must create your own machine pool to hold the DTM client machines for filter driver testing. Before the filter driver test can be started, you must complete the following steps:
Drag the DTM client machine from the default pool into your machine pool and wait for its status to change to Ready.
Install two virtual miniport drivers for the Lightweight Filter test. The Lightweight Filter logo program requires the filter driver to be attached over the designated virtual miniport drivers provided by Microsoft. To install the virtual miniport drivers, schedule the DTM job called Install Virtual Miniport for the Lightweight Filter Test on the test machine. The DTM job is located under the feature "$\WDK Tests\Networking". Because two instances of the virtual miniport drivers are required, the installation job has to be scheduled twice. The following figure shows an ongoing installation of the two virtual miniport drivers.
Install the filter driver on the DTM client machine. After installing the filter driver under the test, make sure that it is attached to the virtual miniport drivers that you installed in Step 3. You can find out whether the filter driver is attached to the virtual miniport drivers by checking the connection property of the virtual miniport as shown by the following screen shot:
To troubleshoot the NDISTest, try attaching a debugger to the test machine.
