Set up a Microsoft Entra ID to sign in to Partner Center
Appropriate roles: User management admin
When you're setting up Partner Center logins for your organization, you need a Microsoft Entra ID.
A tenant represents an organization. It's a dedicated instance of Microsoft Entra ID that an organization or app developer receives at the beginning of a relationship with Microsoft. The relationship could start with signing up for Azure, Microsoft Intune, or Microsoft 365. And if you have one, you can also use it with Partner Center.
The sign in for Microsoft Entra tenants is either the same as your primary email address at your company (formatted as user@yourcompany.com), or an Azure-assigned domain (formatted as user@yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com). To learn more, see connect your company's primary domain to your work account later in this article.
Understand what Microsoft Entra ID does
Your Microsoft Entra ID tenant hosts information about members of your organization, including passwords, profile data, and permissions. The work account also contains groups, applications, and other information pertaining to your company and its security.
In Partner Center, you use your Microsoft Entra tenant to:
- Sign in to Partner Center.
- Manage account access for multiple users.
- Control permissions.
- Host groups and applications.
- Maintain profile data.
Find out if you already have a Microsoft Entra tenant
If you're not sure if your company already has an Azure work account, here's how to find out:
Sign in to the Azure portal.
In Azure services, select Microsoft Entra ID and then Custom Domain Names. If this option doesn't appear, select More services > Microsoft Entra ID.
Check to see if your account is associated with a work account:
- If Primary domain appears with your company's domain name, your company does have a company work account.
- If Primary domain doesn't appear with your company's domain name, your company doesn't have a company work account yet. To create one, follow the steps in Create a tenant.
Connect a domain to your work account
In the Azure portal, you can connect multiple domains to your account. You might want to connect domains if:
- You sign in using an Azure-assigned domain (formatted as user@yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com) and would rather sign in using your company's primary domain (formatted as user@yourcompany.com).
- Your company has more than one domain. Use the domain associated with your corporate headquarters rather than a regional department for Partner Center. For example, use a contoso.com email address rather than a contoso.uk address.
Note
Before you link an existing Microsoft Entra tenant to your Partner Center account, think about how many users in the company work account require access to Partner Center. If you have users in the account who don't need access to Partner Center, consider creating a new tenant for just the users who do need access.
Important
You can't use a personal email addresses to access a Partner Center account.
For more information about adding domains in Microsoft Entra ID, see Add or associate a domain in Microsoft Entra ID.
Create accounts for others in Partner Center
After setting up Partner Center accounts, employees in your company can sign in to Partner Center using their work accounts, depending on the roles they're assigned.
