Microsoft’s LifeCam Cinema
LifeCam Cinema was announced today – apparently the first consumer web cam with a native 720p sensor. I managed to lay my hands on one of these yesterday and it’s an impressive bit of kit. I’ve not had too much time to check out the video but an initial look delivered impressive results. Too impressive actually as I think I could actually have a better shave using this thing than I could using the mirror in my bathroom.
The design is what struck me though with a bullet cam look and pretty subtle styling which even carried through to the packaging. Sad as it is, I was extolling the virtues of the packaging last night as it’s a far cry from some of our previous efforts. Funny as it is, that video where Microsoft designs the iPod packaging seems to have paid off.
You can get all the details over at the Microsoft Hardware site. Looks like no word on UK price yet but $80 in the US. I can also confirm this thing works beautifully with Windows 7. You plug it in, the OS scoots off to the interwebs, grabs the drivers, installs LifeCam software and then you’re off to the races. As Kip says, it makes a nice complement to the release yesterday of Live Movie Maker.
