Behind the scenes of TED
A great little video of what it makes to put on probably the best conference in the world. It’s great to hear from some of the best speakers about their 18 minutes of TED and what goes on behind the scenes. Some nice moments where Chris Anderson gives speaking tips. I wish I’d watched before my TEDx talk on Friday in Liverpool.
I think the talk mostly went well but as always, some good learning's that I had plenty of time to think over on the drive home. Microsoft Surface was extremely well received and the Q&A following my talk was good. A great question from Herb Kim about whether Microsoft sees Google as a huge competitors and does it dominate our thoughts. On the other hand I concluded that I need to be less apologetic in my approach about Microsoft whilst also saying our technology is “cool”. That’s for others to decide.
Anyway, back to TED…..a friend once said to me that if I wanted to learn from the greats, I should seek them out and spend time observing them – kneel at their thrones and listen to them and learn from them. TED allows you to do that from a distance with some of the greatest minds of our time and if you haven’t seen Sir Ken Robinson’s talk (it was shown at Liverpool last Friday) you really ought to treat yourself to 20 minutes of brilliance. I’m off to re-subscribe to the TED feed on my Zune.
Check out other TEDx events coming up in the UK and hat tip to Thinking aloud for the video.
oh and I just realised Sir Ken is from Liverpool. Nice touch!
