What's TechEd EMEA like?

I've worked for Microsoft for two and a half years and yet this is the first time I've been to TechEd. I flew in yesterday and was fortunate to meet several speakers from the security track.

I discovered the delights of Tequila WITH Tobasco - thanks Brian.

I'm really excited to be here and appreciate that many of you would like to be here too - getting the time and budget to participate in such events is a very real challenge. I'm going to share with you as much as I can via this blog. If there's anything you'd like be to find out for you then hit the comment button and I'll do my best to track down the appropriate speaker&session and post information based on your requests.

There's a pre-conference day today which involves a range of tracks each offering a full day of sessions. There are several tracks I'd like to see myself including "AD internals" and "Defence in Depth". I'm involved in internal meetings all day and hence can't share the highlights of the pre-conf.

The conference itself is taking place @ the RAI centre in Amsterdam - it's on the outskirts of the city which makes it easy to get to. The conference centre is huge - it took me ages to find the meeting room - I asked several people(staff) how to get there an each gave conflicting suggestions of where it might be.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's keynote as it involves each of us - the conference ID packs include RFID devices - there will be used in a demo of some kind.

    Hi Steve,

Good to see Microsoft have put their hand in their pocket to fund your trip. I hope you get a lot out of it.

My question might be answered at TechEd but here goes if it is not anyway:

I have two Forests and I would like to secure traffic between a server in each Forest. My initial thoughts were this would be easy using IP Security Policies but the best I can managed so far is IP port filtering which although useful is not go enough.

Any How to's from the show or some URL's would be most appreciated.

Also, leave if people start lighting drinks....
