TechEd Video Blog - HOL Fixup

Finally, another video blog entry…

Hands-on-Lab AreaOn Monday, June 6th, Chris Henley and I were working in the Server Infrastructure area of the Hands-on-Labs.  We volunteered to fix a lab that was broken (HOL163), so I thought I’d document our efforts on video.

Here is the result.

What was the error such that you couldn't just run the lab from the external USB drive?

Well... that was another part of the story that didn't make it to the video. But we tried to get the images up to the proper server that afternoon via the network. That failed. Network was having issues. Then they wanted to take them off of the USB, but I had moved them off of there and made the changes on a workstation. So to save time we just carried that workstation into the control room so they could just connect it up directly.

What happened after that is anybody's guess... but I suspect that eventually they didn't want to install anything new that might cause issues with other sessions.

I have to say also... I don't want this video to make it seem that nothing worked in the HOLs. Quite the contrary. It was an excellent setup and a very valuable way to learn for several thousand TechEd attendees.
