Billing issue caused Sync problems

Hi

We had a credit card cancelled and it has effected the AD Sync on our Azure DC,
it wasn't set up by me, but after the card was cancelled, lots of users emails changed from the domain to .onmicrosoft, and we couldn't change it on the admin centre, only through the azure as its hybrid i believe.

The system was using a classic admin without MFA, we've changed the company policy to insist on MFA and now it can't sync anymore, but im not sure on how to reconnect it, if it helps to know some users passwords can be reset on the admin centre and some don't (ones set up previously on the AZDC.

Would greatly appriciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks

    Hello EthanH,

What has happened is they have become cloud only users due to the disconnect.

Now to make them match, you will need to restore your entra connect and then perform a soft or hard match depending on the data available.

See this older but relevant doc on how to match. You can use a sample user without a mailbox to test.4

    Also see: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/hybrid/connect/how-to-connect-install-existing-tenant

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,
