Bit lock HELP

I’m in a hard spot right now. My grandson spilled a glass of milk onto/into my Dell laptop (window 11). Needless to say the next day it wouldn’t work. I opened it up and removed the SSD drive. I never backed up my info and have a lot of important info on it. I bought a reader to recover all my files and pictures. Once I plugged the reader into another laptop (windows 10) a window popped up and asked for a 48 number bit locker key. Is there any way to open this SSD without the 48 numbers?  The old laptop is junk so I can’t get it to start up so I can’t recover the number from it. HELP PLEASE.

    Hi @Papa D ,

without the Recovery Key it's not possible to decrypt or access the Bitlocker encrypted drive.

If you don't have the Recovery Key available your data will be lost.

Sorry to say and please don't shot the messenger ;-)

If you can’t find the BitLocker recovery key and are unable to undo any changes that caused it to be needed, you’ll have to reset your device using one of the Windows recovery options. Resetting your device will remove all of your files.

    Hi,

To recover your BitLocker-encrypted SSD without the 48-digit recovery key, you can try the following methods to locate the key:

    1. Microsoft Account: If the BitLocker recovery key was backed up to your Microsoft account, you can retrieve it by signing in to https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey with your Microsoft account credentials.
    2. Work or School Account: If the device was ever signed into an organization using a work or school account, the recovery key might be stored in that organization's account. You can access it by signing in to https://aka.ms/aadrecoverykey with your work or school account.
    3. Printout: Check if you printed the recovery key when BitLocker was activated. Look where you keep important papers related to your device.
    4. USB Flash Drive: If you saved the recovery key on a USB flash drive, plug the USB flash drive into another device and read the text file containing the key.

If you cannot find the recovery key using these methods, unfortunately, there is no way to bypass BitLocker encryption, and you may need to reset the device, which will remove all files on the drive
