Generation 1 virtual machines support most guest operating systems, and Generation 2 virtual machines support most 64-bit versions of Windows. In addition, Generation 1 supports BIOS boot mode, while Generation 2 supports UEFI. If these items do not match, you may encounter an operating system not loaded error in the Hyper-V virtual machine. No operating system is loaded in the Hyper-V virtual machine due to incorrect Hyper-V UEFI. You can recreate a new virtual machine in Hyper-V and pay attention to the following steps.
- In the "Specify type" section, select Generation 1 instead of Generation 2.
- In the "Installation options" section, select Install the system from CD/DVD-ROM >> Image file(.iso), and then click Browse to locate the ISO file.
