despite configuring as per the MS documentation, b2b direct connect will not let me add an external user to a Teams shared channel. How can I debug it?

I have the following settings:
For Sharepoint:

External sharing - Anyone, for both Sharepoint and OneDrive. I have set 'Limit external access by domain' both on and off.

Org level and site level sharing is set to allow guests

For M365 Groups
'Let group owners add people outside your organisation.......' is set to enabled

For Teams
I have set the external domain in the external access list of domains permitted.

Create shared channels is enabled.

Invite external users to shared channels is enabled.

For Entra Admin Center

External collaboration settings - guest users have limited access.

Cross-tenant access settings - I have added the organisation and configured inbound and outbound access to allow all users and set the application as Office365 (and indeed tried it with all applications).

However, when I go to the shared channel and attempt to add the external user, I get the following error 'We can't add the users to the channel. To add an external user to the channel, please finish setting up B2B Direct Connect in MS Entra.' I'm not sure what more I can add?

    Hi @petehall

According to the official documentation of Teams, Teams enables external sharing of shared channels by default, and you must also configure the Microsoft Entra cross-tenant access settings for B2B Direct Connect to share channels externally. By default, these settings are set to block all organizations.

You can change the B2B Direct Connect default settings to allow all organizations. Please note that the organization you are working with must also configure its B2B Direct Connect settings. Based on the settings you provided, this is most likely the cause of the problem.

If your problem cannot be solved, please follow the steps to reconfigure the collaboration permissions with external participants:
