A workaround I'm using whenever a sandbox activity comes up is using my free Azure account to do the activities. For my current Learning Path, I just used the Cloud Shell tool to toggle between PowerShell and Bash.
How to access Microsoft Sandbox on personal account?
I'm trying to go through the "Describe the core architectural components of Azure" (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/describe-core-architectural-components-of-azure/) module for the Azure Fundamentals training. On the 4th slide, "Exercise - Explore the Learn sandbox", it had me activate the sandbox (see below):
Sandbox activated! Time remaining: You have used 1 of 10 sandboxes for today. More sandboxes will be available tomorrow.
On the right side of the screen, it's asking me to sign in, so I'm signing in using the same email I used to create my Microsoft Learn account. When I do this, I get this error:
Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application '18fbca16-2224-45f6-85b0-f7bf2b39b3f3' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.
If I keep trying, I eventually get this:
Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.
AADSTS500200: User account 'REDACTED' is a personal Microsoft account. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported for this application unless explicitly invited to an organization. Try signing out and signing back in with an organizational account.

I've tried Incognito mode, I've tried switching to Chrome, but I get the same error every time. I've tried to google it, but from what I understand I should be able to use a personal email to do Microsoft Learn. What's going on and how do I fix it?

2025-02-03T20:15:51.9066667+00:00 I'm encountering the exact same error as mentioned above. The same issue also occurs in the later session, "Describe Azure compute and networking services - Exercise - Create an Azure virtual machine."
I'm pretty sure that I am in the correct directory.
When I try to access Entra ID and manually add the account to the tenant, it seems that the default Sandbox Directory permissions do not allow me to do so.

2025-02-18T15:53:40.8866667+00:00 Having the same issue practicing in the sandbox on this particular module. Doesn't seem like we have the permissions to complete these exercises. Not sure if that's by default, but I'd like to get through the exercises with some hands-on practice.

2025-02-18T20:00:39.4966667+00:00 @RNareddy I am also having this issue. Are you able to provide an update for us on the current status from your side? It seems there are many people experiencing this since January and it is holding up the ability to perform hands on learning, which is critical for some of us to properly consume and retain training material.
If you don't have an update for us, could this issue please be escalated to someone who can more expediently address and resolve it, or at least be able to provide more consistent updates regarding such?

2025-02-22T23:57:08.9766667+00:00 Good Day,
It is asking me to verify account information. I am logged in, so it does not make sense to ask me to verify my account information. There is no radio button to activate. Is there a solution to this.? -

2025-02-26T17:27:54.2133333+00:00 Having the same Issue with the Exercise Explore the Learn sandbox.
Also I checked if I can access or do anything on the tenant in https://portal.azure.com/ and I was able to view some resources and click through the creation process of a web app, but I wasn't sure if it would have any consequences if I really created it so I didn't. Any updates or reasons why this is not working or not allowed?

2025-03-05T14:01:51.89+00:00 Found this post yesterday, and this worked for me. I had to switch from my "Default Directory" to the "Microsoft Learn Sandbox" first. The "side-by-side" version never loaded, but I was able to complete the exercise in the sandbox client.

2025-03-11T21:19:33.14+00:00 I'm running into this same exact error in the first sandbox for Describe the core architectural components of Azure. I'm disappointed Microsoft Learn doesn't support learners who aren't formally enrolled in an institutional program of some kind.
