Just squeaked that one in.....

So I am writing up the previous post, trying to be witty, collecting links and all that rot, thinking I have plenty of time to beat my midnight blog post deadline...... I work better with looming deadlines anyway.

I highlighted my Stewed Prunes reference to create the hyperlink, and my laptop freezes up. Not a typical freeze up though.

LiveWriter stopped responding

CTRL-ESC would bring up the Start Menu, but then it wouldn't go away

Typed into the Search bar, no results would come up.

Alt-Tab allowed me to scroll through my open programs but they wouldn't actually show up on screen.

CTRL-ALT-DEL.......Nothing.

So now I have spent an hour typing up the post, getting the links and I am ready to post and I can't. To top it all off, I know there isn't a draft saved because this has happened before - twice! I thought that the whole re-seat the RAM trick fixed my laptop, but nooooooooo.

So..... After this post, this laptop is getting shut down and never turned back on by me. I am removing the drives and moving my data over to my awesome Lenovo T61p where I will be testing running Windows 2008 as my day to day workstation. I have been meaning to do the Win2008 WS test for a while. Tonight's "almost-didn't-get-the-blog-post-out-the-door" incident was the last straw so I am pushing up my experiment.

This is going to delay the screen casts I wanted to get online. Hopefully by the weekend. I will let you know how the Win2008 experiment goes tomorrow night.
